Lest We Forget

Today is the second Sunday in November – Remembrance Sunday, the Sunday nearest to 11 November, the anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The war memorial in St Mary’s Church Adderbury holds the names of 30 men who gave their lives in the First World War:

And 11 who gave their lives in the Second World War.

There are of course others who died, or were wounded, whose names do not appear on the Adderbury memorial.

We remember them today, and every day –

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them”.
